Happy Thanksgiving Westmont!

It’s been quiet for the past month or so. Rest assured that the NCW has been working behind-the-scenes during that time. With the Christmas season approaching things will likely stay quiet until the new year. We’ll do our best to stay on top of anything that breaks between now and then.

NCW meeting is tonight

Tonight at 6:45 in the Rohrer Memorial Library the NCW will meet to discuss their next steps, including the formation of their non-profit group. If you’re interested in the Westmont, or the group, please come out for the meeting.

NCW to meet in October

On Wednesday October 20nd at 6:45pm in the William G. Rohrer Memorial Library,  the NCW will meet again. This time to discuss their process to move forward with their non-profit group, Friends of the Westmont Theatre (FOWT). Anyone with an interest in the Westmont, the NCW or its new non-profit group, is strongly encouraged to come out for the meeting.

Haddon Twp Block Party was a success!

The weather was beautiful, the popcorn was fresh and interest in the Westmont was abounding. We showed up at 9:30 to setup our booth. By 11am fresh popcorn was popping away in the machine. And come noon the patrons were lining up for their free popcorn, but this time that freebie came with a message – a info card on how others can learn about the Westmont & the NCW.

By 2pm the NCW handed out over 200 bags of popcorn and received 20 new contact info from patrons who want to join the NCW mailing list. A very touching moment came around 3pm when a young boy, one who’d stopped by twice before for popcorn, wanted to make a donation to the NCW cause. He placed his $1 in the email sign-up sheet bin and walked away smiling, and of course he received another free bag of popcorn 🙂

Reminder: Haddon Twp Block Party This Saturday

Don’t forgot that this Saturday is Haddon Twp’s Annual Block Party on West Park Ave. The Neighbors Celebrating the Westmont are participating, so keep an eye out for their booth. This year the groups doing the following:

• Handing out freshly popped bags of popcorn
• Handing out free copies of the “The Grand Old Lady” book
• Screening their NCW awareness video
• Email newsletter sign-ups
• Suggestion box on how to restore the theatre

If you’re coming out that day, and it’s supposed to be a beautiful day, why not stop over at their booth and share a Westmont Theatre memory or two – bring your friends too.

Haddon Township Block Party

Next Saturday, September 25th, is the annual Haddon Township Block Party. Once again the will setup a booth and hand out freshly popped pop corn, screen the NCW awareness video and encourage patrons to sign-up for their email listing and/or come out to the next meeting. If you know others who are interested in meeting members of the NCW. Please encourage them to stop by the NCW booth next Saturday for more information.

Next steps for the NCW…

The NCW meeting last week was met with a large group and a lot of good ideas/suggestions for fundraising once the Friends of the Westmont Theatre non-profit group is set up.  If you’d like to join the NCW email list, please use the contact us page and we’ll be sure to add your address. That way you’ll be up-to-date on all things Westmont and NCW.

NCW Meeting Tonight

Tonight from 7:15 to 9pm at the Rohrer Memorial Library, the NCW will hold a general assembly meeting to discuss the next steps to restore/preserve the theatre now that the NJ State Historic Registry listing is now in place.

All who have an interest in the theatre, or the NCW, are encouraged to attend.

NCW meeting this Wednesday

This Wednesday from 7:15pm to 9pm at the William G. Rohrer Memorial Library, the NCW will hold a general assembly meeting of all members with an open invitation to any who are interested in joining the group, or who want to learn more about the group and the theatre’s status. Interested parties are encouraged to get in contact with the NCW by using the contact us page on the blog site.
