‘Twp. Wins Judgment on Westmont Theater’

June 19, 2009

In this week’s edition of The Retrospect is a more detailed story on the recent court ruling on the Westmont Theatre.  The story also includes updates from two of the three RFP developers who pitched theatre proposals at the June 2008 public meeting: Fieldstone and The Retzler Group.

“The future of the Westmont Theatre appears to be back under control of HaddonTownship leaders. At Tuesday night’s commissioners caucus meeting, Mayor RandyTeague announced… Read More

Please note there are two sentences within The Retzler Group portion of this article that need to be clarified:

Warshauer added that he had spoken to members of Friends of the Westmont Theatre, a group that formed last year to support restoring the Westmont as a full-fledged theater, just last week.” The ‘Friends of the Westmont’ was a concept in June 2008 but never formed as a group. If Mr. Warshauer meant to infer the ‘Neighbors Celebrating the Westmont’, that is also inaccurate. The NCW is not in-line with Retzler, or any other developer from the June 2008 RFP public meeting.

“He noted that Allen Hauss, an authority on the history of South Jersey theaters had also visited him recently.” Mr. Hauss did not visit Mr. Warshauer. Neither Mr. Hauss nor anyone else from the NCW has seen Mr. Warshauer since June 2008.

“A federal judge set the stage for the transformation of the decaying Westmont Theater this week by lifting an injunction against local officials who want to… Read More

Misprint in today’s Courier Post

June 23, 2008

The article in today’s edition of the Courier Post is incorrect. The meeting for the Westmont theatre is TONIGHT, not tomorrow.

Please forward that information to anyone you feel would read that article and not attend thinking the day was changed to Tuesday.

Tonights the night!!!

June 23, 2008

Haddon Township residents have trudged through years of garbled information on whether or not the beloved Westmont Theatre would be restored. Tonight at 7PM, in the high school auditorium, that information will be belted out to the masses through presentations from three potential redevelopment firms

Each proposal is different.

One firm wants to build an “indoor mall”, another wants to put retail space, dinner theatre and apartment housing, and one wants to fully restore the theatre as a performing arts centre.

Who will win? Only time (and the collective voice of the town residents and commission) can answer that question.

The Westmont Theatre Blog team will be shooting pictures of tonight’s presentations. Please check back tomorrow for pictures of this historic public meeting!

Thanks,

Westmont Mgmt Team

5 days till the BIG MEETING!

June 19, 2008

On the front page (home page) of the Haddon Township website is a “What’s New” section that breaks down the calendar month meetings and activities.

We, like so many others, are excited to see the following listed for June 23rd – Westmont Theatre Redevelopment Project Public Meeting.

There’s only 5 days left until this public meeting takes place and we’re giddy as schoolboys to see the turnout of people and the presentations from the developers.

This meeting is truly an historic event for Haddon Township!
