Concerned town residents contacted us today to discuss this front basement access out under the marquee.
As you can see in the picture, the concrete has cracked all the way down from the metal frame to the new concrete, which was installed as part of the “Street-scape project” last year. The hinges on the right panel have come loose and the panel itself has shifted on top of the left panel. If you look close you’ll also notice a vertical crack on the left side panel that goes all the way across to the next segment of concrete.
This is just another (new) example of the continued deterioration of our beloved Westmont Theatre. Perhaps the town should use some of the bond money setup to maintain the theatre and “shore up” the damaged areas, like these basement doors.
